Council Meeting on Lansdowne

Note: this Special City Council meeting has been cancelled (Committee of the Whole) – Lansdowne Partnership Plan reports Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00am

Council is holding a special two-day meeting on July 5 & 6 to make decisions on Landowne. It is expected that it will consider a number of important issues including legal agreements, the governance structure, the site plan and the Horticulture building.

It is likely that public delegations will be allowed, but it is also likely that the reports in question will not be released until June 28th, just in time for the Royal Visit and Canada Day long weekend when few people will be around to pay attention. This is part of the pattern of sham public consultations, bad faith and lack of transparency that the City has shown on all matters relating to Lansdowne Park. It also raises questions of due diligence. How likely is it that Councillors are going to spend the July long weekend carefully reviewing complex legal and governance agreements to make sure the public interest is protected.
